Counseling |
Counseling or therapy can be seen as a movement. A movement where a person joins with a mental health professional to explore and understand his or her life, and try out new ways of being. Like two people walking forward, together, in a journey of discovery. This movement can be related to the desire one has for more personal insight; a feeling of control; or a place where we feel free in our efforts to simply express, feel, think, and be who we are.
Issues relating to identity, relationships, personal history, sexuality, mood, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, life transitions, stressors and ways to cope are commonly addressed. As such, helpful therapy offers a respectful, kind, and reflective environment for all of these things. You can also think of therapy as a house where all of these issues are considered guests who are welcomed to visit, have a seat, and talk. Indeed, that is what therapy is, a place where you are welcomed to visit, have a seat, and talk. |
